Greek (GRE)

GRE-2000: Greek I (4 hours)

The first semester of a 2-semester Greek sequence of biblical Greek grammar. Preparation for reading the New Testament in Greek. Replaces: GRE-4110.

GRE-2100: Greek II (4 hours)

The second semester of a 2-semester Greek sequence of biblical Greek grammar. Preparation for reading the New Testament in Greek. Replaces: GRE-4120. Prerequisite: C or higher in GRE-2000.

GRE-3000: Greek Readings in Johannine Literature (2 hours)

Readings from the Greek text of the Gospel of John and the Johannine Epistles. Review of vocabulary, morphology and syntax. Selections change from semester to semester. Course may be repeated for credit. Replaces: GRE-4514. Prerequisite: C or higher in GRE-2100.

GRE-3150: Readings in Johannine Lit (1 hour)

Readings from the Greek text of the Gospel of John and the Johannine Epistles. Review of vocabulary, morphology and syntax. Selections change from semester to semester. Course may be repeated for credit. Replaces: GRE-4513. Prerequisite: C or higher in GRE-2100.

GRE-4000: Intermediate Greek Readings (2 hours)

Readings from the Greek text of the New Testament and other early Christian and Jewish literature. Review of vocabulary, morphology and syntax. Selections change from semester to semester. Course may be repeated for credit. Replaces: GRE-4514. Prerequisite: C or higher in GRE-3000.

GRE-4150: Readings in Intermediate Greek (1 hour)

Readings from the Greek text of the New Testament and other early Christian and Jewish literature. Review of vocabulary, morphology and syntax. Selections change from semester to semester. Course may be repeated for credit. Replaces: GRE-4513. Prerequisite: C or higher in either GRE-3000 or GRE-3150.

GRE-4910: Special Topics: Greek (4 hours)

An in-depth study of a topic relevant to a current topic in the discipline or a topic of interest that is not addressed in other departmental courses. The course may be repeated for credit so long as the topic is different.

GRE-4950: Independent Study in Greek (1-6 hours)
