Health Science-Professional and Pre-Professional Programs/Majors

While no specific major is required for many Pre-Professional Health Science Programs, Concordia University Chicago offers programs to prepare students for a number of post-baccalaureate graduate degrees. The College of Health Science and Technology offers Pre-Professional Programs in Athletic Training, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Dentistry, Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and Chiropractic Medicine. These programs are not majors, but include sequences of foundational and prerequisite courses for entry into graduate professional study. Dedicated faculty and academic advising staff provide consistent and personal advisement of the student's academic program throughout their time at Concordia University Chicago.

Suggested majors for students in pre-professional programs are B.S. in Biology or B.S. in Health Science. Individual programs/majors course requirements are listed in the section: College of Health, Science, and Technology, Bachelor of Science (or Arts) Degree Requirements.

LECOM Early Acceptance Program (EAP)

  • Dentistry (D.D.S.) Early Acceptance Program
    • A 4 + 4 partnership with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Dentistry, is a competitive admission program for selected high school seniors or current Concordia-Chicago students prior to the start of their junior year.
  • Medicine (D.O.) Early Acceptance Program
    • A 4 + 4 partnership with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Medical College,  It is a competitive admission program for selected high school seniors or current Concordia-Chicago students prior to the start of their junior year.
  • Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) Early Acceptance Program
    • A 4 + 4 partnership with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy, It is a competitive admission program for selected high school seniors or current Concordia-Chicago students prior to the start of their junior year.

General Entry Masters (GEM) in Nursing (M.S.N.)

  • A partnership with Rush University guaranteeing admission of four CUC students each year who have earned a B.A./B.S. in any major with four required science classes (chemistry, microbiology, anatomy & physiology I & II) and a GPA of 3.0. This leads to a Master of Science in Nursing.

Athletic Training Masters (MS)

  • A partnership with North Park University guaranteeing admission of two CUC students each year who have earned a B.A./B.S. in any major, preferably BS Health Science, with a C or better in pre-requisite course requirements, current CPR/AED certification, 50 observational hours approved by an athletic trainer, a GPA of 3.0, and CUC application acceptance interview. This leads to a Master of Science in Athletic Training.
