EDEL-4910: Special Topics: Elementary Education (3 hours)
An in-depth study of a topic relevant to a current topic in the discipline or a topic of interest that is not addressed in other departmental courses. The course may be repeated for credit so long as the topic is different.
EDEL-4920: Student Teaching Internship: Elementary (15 hours)
Supervised experience in a parochial or public setting for 16 weeks on a full-day basis under the guidance of a cooperating teacher and college supervisor. Attendance at scheduled seminars is required. Prerequisite: Acceptance to the Internship Professional Semester. Fee: Required.
EDEL-4922: Classroom Management and Professionalism in Elementary and Middle Grades (3 hours)
Foundations for planning and implementing a positive classroom environment that is safe, healthy, motivating, and engaging for every student. This course is to be taken concurrently with Elementary Methods Block 1 (Content and Methods for Art, Music, and Social Sciences). Corequisite: EDEL-3500, EDEL-4901, EDEL-4902, and EDEL-4903. EDEL-4923: Assessment: Elementary and Middle Grades (3 hours)
Foundations, planning and implementation of effective classroom assessment to improve instruction and evaluate student learning. This course is to be taken concurrently with Elementary Methods Block 2. Prerequisite: Acceptance into Teacher Candidacy. Corequisite: EDEL-4905, EDEL-4906, and EDEL-4907.
EDEL-4950: Independent Study in Elementary Education (1-6 hours)
