The post-degree deaconess certificate is available only to a student who previously completed requirements for regular undergraduate deaconess program with the exception of the deaconess internship, and who already holds a Bachelor of Arts, Theology major, from Concordia University Chicago.
Admission Requirements
- Has completed requirements of the Deaconess Program in the catalog year in which the student entered as an undergraduate, with the exception of the internship year.
- Submits application to the Deaconess Program within 5 years of graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, Theology major, from Concordia University Chicago
- Accepted into the Deaconess Program
Certificate Requirements
Prior and/or Concurrent Coursework
Prior to completion of requirements for Deaconess Certification, the student will have competed the following courses at the undergraduate or graduate level. If these requirements have not been taken prior to admission, they will normally be taken through CUC. The Deaconess Program Leader will monitor the student’s progress and will report to the Registrar the successful completion thereof. Any exceptions or credit for prior experience must be approved by the Deaconess Program Leader and Chair of the Division of Theology.
- Successful completion of regular undergraduate deaconess program, Transition Three: Admission to Deaconess Internship
- 2 semesters of THY-4992 Deaconess Certificate Internship (1 credit/semester; fee assessed)
- Successful completion of regular undergraduate deaconess program, Transition Four: Program Completion
- Successful completion of regular undergraduate deaconess program, Transition Five: LCMS Deaconess Certification
