Undergraduate students should select a program of study by the end of their sophomore year (before a student completes a total of 60 semester hours, which is inclusive of institutional and transfer hours). Waiting longer to select a program may delay degree completion, which can also impact financial aid awards and more. Students are encouraged to speak with their academic advisor to declare their program of study.
In order that faculty and advisors may monitor adequate progress towards graduation, students are encouraged to declare a major as soon as they are able. A student should declare a major, however, by the time the 60 hours have been completed. Students may change their declared major, but may not return to "Undeclared" status.
